India on Thursday hit out at Pakistan stating it has “totally failed” to secure religious minorities and the ongoing assaults on them is “reprehensible”. This arrives a day after a mob attacked a Hindu temple in Pakistan’s Punjab province and weakened the idols therein.

Ministry of Exterior Affairs (MEA) Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi explained this kind of incidents of violence and persecution in opposition to the minorities keep on unabated in Pakistan.

“In addition to attacking the temple, surrounding houses belonging to Hindu neighborhood had been also attacked. Incidents of violence, discrimination and persecution versus minority communities, such as attacks on destinations of worship have continued unabated in Pakistan,” he reported.

The spokesperson included that establishments in Pakistan have “stood idle and absolutely unsuccessful in shielding these establishments and spots of worship”.

He reported India also summoned Pakistan’s Cost d’Affaires on Thursday afternoon and lodged a “business protest expressing grave problem at this reprehensible incident and the continued attacks on the independence of religion of the minority neighborhood and security of their locations of worship”.


On Wednesday, a mob attacked a Hindu temple in Pakistan’s Punjab province and burned down sections of it and destroyed its idols. As law enforcement unsuccessful to handle the scenario, the Pakistan Rangers were being called in.

In accordance to news agency PTI, police explained the mob attacked the Hindu temple at Bhong town of Rahim Yar Khan district, some 590 km from Lahore, in response to alleged desecration of a Muslim seminary.

“An eight-year-outdated Hindu boy past 7 days had allegedly urinated at a library of the seminary in the space that triggered tensions in Bhong, where by Muslims and Hindus have been living peacefully for decades,” PTI said in its report.

As the mob attacked the temple, ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf parliamentarian Ramesh Kumar Vankwani posted movies of the temple assault on Twitter and asked for regulation enforcement businesses to hurry to the place to halt its “burning and vandalising”.

In a collection of tweets, he claimed, “Assault on Hindu temple at Bhong Town District Rahimyar Khan Punjab. Scenario was tense because yesterday. Carelessness by neighborhood police is extremely shameful. Main Justice is asked for to acquire action.”


In the meantime, according to District Law enforcement Officer (DPO) Rahim Yar Khan Asad Sarfraz, the legislation enforcement organizations have controlled the predicament and managed to disperse the mob.

The DPO further more said that some 100 Hindu families are residing in the space and police have been deployed there to thwart any untoward incident.
